Calculation method

Adjusted mark (%)

Points: max(floor, original − rate × days). Relative: max(floor, original × (1 − rate × days / 100)), with the unfloored value clamped at zero.

Charged late days

Round lateness up to full days for ceil, or use exact entered lateness.

Penalty before floor (percentage points)

Original mark minus the non-negative unfloored mark.

Floor adjustment (percentage points)

Final mark minus the non-negative unfloored mark.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • Models two explicitly entered linear penalty policies; relative means a percentage of the original mark per charged day, not compounding. No grace period, weekend exemption or institutional rule is inferred.
