Backpack load transfer ledger calculator

Calculate shared grams allocated to each member and proposed total grams by member with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use shared grams allocated to each member and proposed total grams by member to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Calculation method

Calculation method

Shared grams allocated to each member

Find a common capacity fraction with total=max(fixed, fraction×cap), then apportion fractional grams by largest remainder, input-order ties.

Proposed total grams by member

Fixed grams+assigned shared grams, preserving each supplied cap.

Pool grams left unassigned above supplied caps

max(0,pool−sum(cap−fixed)); an over-cap pool is exposed rather than silently assigned.

Largest proposed total/supplied cap (%)

Maximum realized integer-gram total/cap×100, excluding zero/zero caps.

Symbols and units
a
Members: ID, fixed nontransferable grams, supplied preferred maximum total grams
b
Divisible shared pool mass (whole grams)

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Calculation steps and notation

sum(list) adds all entries in the list.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • A divisible common-pool load-balancing proposal using supplied preference caps and fixed loads. It does not assign indivisible equipment, infer physical carrying capacity or evaluate health, terrain or suitability.
