Calculation method
Calculation method
Workload by interval (minutes)
Arrivals × measured handling minutes for every interval.
Workers by interval
Round up workload / (interval length × target busy-time percentage/100).
Peak workers
Largest required worker count across intervals.
Scheduled worker-hours
Sum interval worker counts × interval minutes / 60.
Symbols and units
- a
- Forecast arrivals by interval
- b
- Measured handling minutes per arrival
- c
- Interval length (minutes)
- d
- Target busy-time fraction (%)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- A workload staffing scenario using your chosen busy-time target. Assumes workers can perform the same tasks throughout each interval. Does not predict queue length, waiting times or service-level attainment.
