THE NUMBERS, EXPLAINED
How to use this calculator.
Expected quantities may be fractional; assumes at most one pastry per attached drink and no replenishment beyond reserve.
Start with your inputs
Enter forecast drink orders, expected pastry attachment (%), pastries initially displayed, reserve pastry stock. Keep amounts in the units shown on each field. The example is a starting point, not a recommended value.
| Input | Example value |
|---|---|
| Forecast drink orders | 200 |
| Expected pastry attachment (%) | 30 |
| Pastries initially displayed | 50 |
| Reserve pastry stock | 20 |
A worked example
With the example inputs above, expected pastry demand is 60. Change the inputs to explore your own scenario.
| Result | Example answer |
|---|---|
| Expected pastry demand | 60 |
| Expected pastry sales | 60 |
| Display replenishment required | 10 |
| Expected unsold pastries | 10 |
How this is calculated
Expected pastry demand
Multiply drinks by assumed pastry attachment.
Expected pastry sales
Cap demand at total available pastry stock.
Display replenishment required
Use reserve stock only after display stock is exhausted.
Expected unsold pastries
Subtract scenario demand from total stock, floored at zero.
Symbols and units
- a
- Forecast drink orders
- b
- Expected pastry attachment (%)
- c
- Pastries initially displayed
- d
- Reserve pastry stock
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions and limits
Expected quantities may be fractional; assumes at most one pastry per attached drink and no replenishment beyond reserve.
Calculations use the values you enter. Blank or invalid inputs show an error instead of silently substituting zero. Results are displayed to useful precision; calculations retain the underlying numeric precision.
Questions about this tool
What does the result tell me?
Expected pastry demand; Expected pastry sales; Display replenishment required; Expected unsold pastries. The result applies to the method and inputs described above. Check the units and assumptions before using it in a decision.
Why might another calculator differ?
Differences in units, rounding, timing or model definitions can produce different answers. Compare the input definitions and the method, rather than only the final number. For this tool: Expected quantities may be fractional; assumes at most one pastry per attached drink and no replenishment beyond reserve.
Are my inputs stored or sent to AI?
