Calculation method
Calculation method
Cut lengths by distance group (m)
Anchor distance + adjustment allowance + 2×knot allowance.
Total line to cut (m)
Sum derived cut length × corresponding line count.
Spools under first-fit-decreasing packing
Sort full cuts longest first; place on the first spool with sufficient remainder or open another. Never splice across spools.
Unused purchased line (m)
Spool count × usable spool length − total cuts.
Cuts packed on each spool (m)
List cut lengths assigned to each spool. This is feasible packing, not a minimum-spool proof.
Symbols and units
- a
- Measured anchor-to-tie distances (m)
- b
- Lines at each corresponding distance
- c
- Adjustment allowance per line (m)
- d
- Knot allowance at EACH end (m)
- e
- Usable line per spool (m)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Unspliced full-length guyline cuts from supplied measured distances and allowances. It does not select rope strength, knots, anchor positions or safe tension.
