Circuit breaker threshold simulator calculator

Calculate final breaker state and open transitions with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use final breaker state and open transitions to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Calculation method

Calculation method

Final breaker state

Closed evaluates accepted outcomes in (time−window, time]; open rejects before its reset delay. At expiry the next event is one immediate half-open probe.

Open transitions

Count closed-to-open trips and failed half-open probes.

Accepted probes or requests

Closed requests and one probe per expired open period are accepted.

Rejected requests

Open events before reset expiry are rejected without counting their supplied outcome.

State after each event

Successful half-open probe closes and clears prior history; failed probe reopens with a new reset timer.

Symbols and units
a
Events: name, time seconds, outcome ok or fail
b
Trailing outcome window (seconds)
c
Minimum accepted samples before trip
d
Failure trip threshold (%)
e
Open reset delay (seconds)

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • An explicit immediate-outcome toy breaker, not a simulation of concurrent in-flight probes. The half-open probe outcome occurs at its arrival timestamp. Rejected supplied outcomes are ignored; window boundaries and reset rules are stated above.
