THE NUMBERS, EXPLAINED
How to use this calculator.
Identical racks hold one coat per place. Reserve adds capacity to the expected coat count. Ticket ranges cover the target including reserve; spare rack positions beyond that target need no ticket. This is not a floor-space or staffing plan.
Start with your inputs
Enter expected coats, places per rack, extra capacity reserve (%). Keep amounts in the units shown on each field. The example is a starting point, not a recommended value.
| Input | Example value |
|---|---|
| Expected coats | 150 |
| Places per rack | 40 |
| Extra capacity reserve (%) | 10 |
A worked example
With the example inputs above, ticketed capacity target is 165. Change the inputs to explore your own scenario.
| Result | Example answer |
|---|---|
| Ticketed capacity target | 165 |
| Racks | 5 |
| Unused rack places | 35 |
| Numbered ticket batches by rack | 1–40, 41–80, 81–120, 121–160, 161–165 |
How this is calculated
Ticketed capacity target
Round up expected coats × (1 + reserve percentage/100).
Racks
Round up ticketed target ÷ places per rack.
Unused rack places
Total rack places minus the ticketed target.
Numbered ticket batches by rack
Assign consecutive inclusive ticket ranges, up to each rack capacity; the last range ends at the target.

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions and limits
Identical racks hold one coat per place. Reserve adds capacity to the expected coat count. Ticket ranges cover the target including reserve; spare rack positions beyond that target need no ticket. This is not a floor-space or staffing plan.
Calculations use the values you enter. Blank or invalid inputs show an error instead of silently substituting zero. Results are displayed to useful precision; calculations retain the underlying numeric precision.
Questions about this tool
What does the result tell me?
Ticketed capacity target; Racks; Unused rack places; Numbered ticket batches by rack. The result applies to the method and inputs described above. Check the units and assumptions before using it in a decision.
Why might another calculator differ?
Differences in units, rounding, timing or model definitions can produce different answers. Compare the input definitions and the method, rather than only the final number. For this tool: Identical racks hold one coat per place. Reserve adds capacity to the expected coat count. Ticket ranges cover the target including reserve; spare rack positions beyond that target need no ticket. This is not a floor-space or staffing plan.
