Calculation method
Calculation method
Cancellation frequencies (Hz)
Equal same-polarity paths cancel at (j+1/2)/delay; inverted paths cancel at (j+1)/delay for j starting at zero.
Reinforcement frequencies (Hz)
Same polarity reinforces at (j+1)/delay; inverted polarity reinforces at (j+1/2)/delay. DC is reported separately.
Comb tooth spacing (Hz)
1 / delay in seconds.
DC response
Same polarity doubles DC amplitude; inverted polarity cancels DC.
Symbols and units
- a
- Direct-to-delayed path difference (ms)
- b
- Positive-frequency orders to show
- c
- Delayed signal polarity: same or inverted
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Ideal sum of two equal-amplitude paths with pure delay. Inverted-polarity DC cancellation is excluded from the positive-frequency list. Unequal levels produce dips rather than complete nulls.
