Calculation method
Calculation method
Placement coordinates
Sort height then width descending; first-fit existing shelves, otherwise new shelf/container. Coordinates are lower-left x,y.
Required containers
Number of identical sheets, rooms, trays, or cases opened.
Occupied fraction
Sum physical piece area / total container area; includes unoccupied clearance in denominator.
Oversize pieces
Pieces whose width or height plus trailing clearance exceeds container dimensions.
Symbols and units
- a
- JSON Rectangular pieces [ID,width mm,height mm,integer quantity]
- b
- Container or stock width (mm)
- c
- Container or stock height (mm)
- d
- Trailing clearance or kerf per piece (mm)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Floor protection sheet cutting/placement from explicitly measured rectangular floor-zone pieces and usable roll segments represented as rectangular stock. Quantities may be divided by user-approved reuse before entry; no arbitrary curved roll nesting. Supported limits: At most 100 pieces. Axis-aligned rectangles, no rotation, no obstacles unless represented as separate usable rectangular containers. Feasible shelf heuristic, no best-fit or optimality claim. Multiple containers are explicitly reported.
