Examples
Try the starting example
- JSON Reservations [resource ID,start hour,end hour]; half-open intervals
- [["A",0,2],["A",1,3],["B",3,5]]
- Reporting horizon (hours)
- 8
- Conflicting intervals
- [["A",1,2]]
- Peak simultaneous reservations
- 2
- Reserved resource-hours
- 6
- Free intervals by observed resource
- [["A",[[3,8]]],["B",[[0,3],[5,8]]]]
Try another scenario
- JSON Reservations [resource ID,start hour,end hour]; half-open intervals
- [["A",0,2],["A",2,3],["B",3,6]]
- Reporting horizon (hours)
- 8
- Conflicting intervals
- []
- Peak simultaneous reservations
- 1
- Reserved resource-hours
- 6
- Free intervals by observed resource
- [["A",[[3,8]]],["B",[[0,3],[6,8]]]]
Calculation method
Calculation method
Conflicting intervals
For every same-resource pair return max(starts), min(ends) when strictly overlapping.
Peak simultaneous reservations
Sweep all endpoints; endings precede starts.
Reserved resource-hours
Sum end-start across reservations; overlap remains counted twice.
Free intervals by observed resource
Union each resource bookings, subtract from [0,reporting horizon); list exact free intervals.
Symbols and units
- a
- JSON Reservations [resource ID,start hour,end hour]; half-open intervals
- b
- Reporting horizon (hours)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Desk reservations audit. A resource ID represents one desk and one restriction-compatible pool; unapproved member reservations must be filtered before entry. Outputs identify exact overlapping times and reserved hours. Supported limits: 1–100 intervals; times are hours from one user-selected origin. Member restrictions or incompatible-use rules must already be encoded as shared resource IDs.
