Examples
Try the starting example
- Price-band boundaries in one currency, all bands lower-inclusive and upper-exclusive (USD)
- 0,50,100,200
- Products: unique SKU, price in same currency (USD)
- A,25 B,50 C,150 D,250
- Product counts by declared price band
- 0–50: 1; 50–100: 1; 100–200: 1
- Empty declared price bands
- None
- SKUs outside all declared bands
- D
- Largest adjacent distinct-price gap
- 50→150; 150→250
- Largest gap amount in that currency (USD)
- $100.00
Try another scenario
- Price-band boundaries in one currency, all bands lower-inclusive and upper-exclusive (USD)
- 0,50,100,200
- Products: unique SKU, price in same currency (USD)
- A,25 B,100 C,150 D,250
- Product counts by declared price band
- 0–50: 1; 50–100: 0; 100–200: 2
- Empty declared price bands
- 50–100
- SKUs outside all declared bands
- D
- Largest adjacent distinct-price gap
- 150→250
- Largest gap amount in that currency (USD)
- $100.00
Calculation method
Calculation method
Product counts by declared price band
Count lower≤price<upper for every adjacent boundary pair.
Empty declared price bands
List bands with count zero.
SKUs outside all declared bands
Include prices below the first boundary or at/above the final boundary.
Largest adjacent distinct-price gap
Sort distinct prices and list every adjacent pair with the largest positive gap.
Largest gap amount in that currency (USD)
Maximum adjacent distinct-price difference, or zero when fewer than two distinct prices.
Symbols and units
- a
- Price-band boundaries in one currency, all bands lower-inclusive and upper-exclusive (USD)
- b
- Products: unique SKU, price in same currency (USD)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- A price-distribution audit in one pre-normalized currency. Bands and gap comparisons are supplied business definitions, not pricing advice or a live market comparison.
