Calculation method
Calculation method
Distinct available supplied failure groups by role
Count unique supplied failure-group labels among available positive-quantity items listing the role.
Shortfall against supplied distinct-group targets
max(0,target−distinct available groups).
Available item units listing each role
Sum available item quantities per listed role, separately from independence counts.
Smallest distinct-group coverage after one supplied group failure, by role
For each role remove one of its present groups; max(0,current distinct groups−1), without asserting the remaining items suffice.
Symbols and units
- a
- Equipment roles: label, supplied distinct-failure-group target
- b
- Items: ID, quantity, supplied role labels joined by |, available yes/no, shared-failure-group label
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- A supplied equipment/role/failure-group inventory model, not a safety or expedition-readiness certification. Group labels express assumed dependence, not verified independent reliability; multi-role items may not serve simultaneous uses.
