Try another scenario
- Remaining usable spool filament (g)
- 20
- Measured filament by future layer (g)
- 2,3
- Protected reserve not to consume (g)
- 1
- Layers completed before change
- 2
- Pause before layer
- None within plan
- Filament consumed before change (g)
- 5
- Spool filament remaining at pause (g)
- 15
Calculation method
Calculation method
Layers completed before change
Walk the layer list in order while cumulative consumption does not exceed remaining mass minus reserve.
Pause before layer
One-based next layer after the completed prefix, or None within plan if every layer fits.
Filament consumed before change (g)
Sum filament for the completed prefix only.
Spool filament remaining at pause (g)
Remaining spool mass − consumed prefix mass.
Symbols and units
- a
- Remaining usable spool filament (g)
- b
- Measured filament by future layer (g)
- c
- Protected reserve not to consume (g)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Cumulative measured or externally estimated layer usage, with a protected reserve. Layer numbering starts at the first entered future layer. Does not modify G-code, measure the spool or guarantee a printer can pause at that point.
