Food pack underweight sample audit calculator

Calculate mean pack weight and below-threshold samples with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use mean pack weight and below-threshold samples to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Examples

Examples

Try the starting example

Measured pack weights (grams)
99,101,98,102,100
User lower weight threshold (grams)
100
User maximum below-threshold packs (count)
1
Mean pack weight (grams)
100
Below-threshold samples (count)
2
Entered-rule outcome (text)
Outside entered rule
Minimum sample weight (grams)
98

Try another scenario

Measured pack weights (grams)
97,99,100,101,98
User lower weight threshold (grams)
99
User maximum below-threshold packs (count)
2
Mean pack weight (grams)
99
Below-threshold samples (count)

Entered-rule outcome (text)
Within entered rule
Minimum sample weight (grams)

Calculation method

Calculation method

Mean pack weight (grams)

Arithmetic sample mean.

Below-threshold samples (count)

Count weights strictly below threshold.

Entered-rule outcome (text)

Pass if below-threshold count<=user maximum; otherwise fail under entered rule.

Minimum sample weight (grams)

Minimum supplied observation.

Symbols and units
a
Measured pack weights (grams)
b
User lower weight threshold (grams)
c
User maximum below-threshold packs (count)

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • User-defined sample threshold and maximum below-threshold count; no statutory package-weight determination. Supported limits: All numeric inputs and computed intermediates must remain finite. Supported numeric input magnitude is zero or 1e-12 through 1e12 in absolute value; reject values outside this bounded range. All lists/JSON record tables are limited to 100 records unless a stricter bound is stated; reject malformed record arity and wrong member types. All numeric values must be finite. Lists contain at most 100 records; required lists must be nonempty. Rates, probabilities and fractions are entered as fractions, not percentages; fractions must be between 0 and 1. Use a single consistent user-selected currency for all amounts; no exchange-rate conversion.
