Hiking GPS battery trace calculator

Calculate modeled charge after segment and its supplied recharge and total requested discharge percentage points with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use modeled charge after segment and its supplied recharge and total requested discharge percentage points to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Calculation method

Calculation method

Modeled charge after segment and its supplied recharge (%)

Per segment request duration×observed loss/trial time; consume only available charge, then add supplied recharge capped at 100.

Total requested discharge percentage points

Sum modeled requested discharge, even where the device would have no available charge.

Modeled discharge actually available before recharges

Sum min(requested discharge,available pre-segment charge).

Requested discharge not covered by available charge

Requested−actually available discharge; expose uncovered segments instead of negative charge.

Added charge accepted within 100% cap

Sum min(supplied recharge,100−post-discharge charge).

Added charge above 100% cap, unused

Supplied recharge−accepted charge.

Symbols and units

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • A linear observed battery-percentage trace, not an energy-accurate battery model or runtime guarantee. Charge percentages, rates and recharge points are supplied; temperature, battery health and interrupted device behavior are not inferred.
