Calculation method
Calculation method
All loads completed after (minutes)
Schedule washes in input order on earliest-free washers, then dryers by wash-completion order.
Washer and dryer schedule
Dry start=max(wash finish, earliest dryer availability). Machine ties use the lowest index.
Total waiting between wash and dry (minutes)
Sum dry-start minus wash-finish across loads.
Total wash work (minutes)
Sum wash durations.
Total dryer work (minutes)
Sum dry durations.
Symbols and units
- a
- Loads: name, wash minutes, dry minutes
- b
- Identical washers
- c
- Identical dryers
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Finite ready-at-zero loads with identical machines and immediate transfers when a dryer is free. It does not choose wash settings, group loads, include handling time or optimise the ordering.
