Symbols and units
a
Dataset

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Calculation steps and notation

quantile(list, p): sort values ascending, let k = (count−1) × p, and linearly interpolate between the entries at floor(k) and ceil(k), counting positions from zero. Other percentile conventions may differ.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • Quantiles use linear interpolation at index (n−1)p on the sorted data. Other software conventions can differ. Lists support up to 1,000 finite values.
