Miniature terrain foam stack calculator

Calculate lamina count by contour and actual sheet cut coordinates with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use lamina count by contour and actual sheet cut coordinates to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Calculation method

Calculation method

Lamina count by contour

ceil(required thickness/sheet thickness) for each rectangular contour.

Actual sheet cut coordinates

Pack expanded rectangular laminae by declared height-descending shelf algorithm, no rotation.

Required stock sheets

Actual shelf heuristic sheet count, not area-only estimate.

Allocated foam volume (mm³)

Sum contour width×height×lamina count×sheet thickness.

Oversize contour laminae

Explicit laminae that cannot fit stock.

Symbols and units
a
JSON Rectangular contour layers [ID,width mm,height mm,required thickness mm]
b
Foam sheet thickness (mm)
c
Stock sheet width (mm)
d
Stock sheet height (mm)
e
Trailing cutting gap per lamina (mm)

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • Rectangular supported contour layers only; no arbitrary polygon contour nesting. Sheet count derives from actual nonoverlapping cuts; oversize laminae flagged. Supported limits: At most 100 laminae; positive layer/sheet dimensions, nonnegative trailing gap.
