Moving-day contingency buffer calculator

Calculate buffered task timeline and final task finish time with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use buffered task timeline and final task finish time to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Calculation method

Calculation method

Buffered task timeline

Each task uses base minutes × (1 + supplied buffer/100), in input order. Display clocks rounded to the nearest minute.

Final task finish time

Start time + sum buffered task durations; must remain within the day.

Added buffer (minutes)

Sum buffered duration minus base duration.

Task-booking overlap pairs

Count strict interval overlaps between each task and fixed booking; shared endpoints do not overlap.

Slack from final task to earliest booking (minutes)

Earliest booking start − final task finish. Negative indicates that tasks extend past that start.

Symbols and units
a
Ordered tasks: name, base minutes, selected buffer %
b
Task start HH:MM
c
Fixed bookings: name, start HH:MM, end HH:MM

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • A deterministic task buffer scenario with fixed bookings left in place. It reports overlaps instead of silently rearranging appointments. Buffers are your choices, not probability-based guarantees.
