Process ideal flash calculation calculator

Calculate equilibrium vapour fraction and liquid mole fractions with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use equilibrium vapour fraction and liquid mole fractions to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Calculation method

Calculation method

Equilibrium vapour fraction

Solve sum zi(Ki−1)/(1+beta(Ki−1))=0 by bisection; return single-phase limits when no two-phase root.

Liquid mole fractions

xi=zi/(1+beta(Ki−1)), normalized if hypothetical single-phase complement.

Vapour mole fractions

yi=Ki xi, normalized for single-phase complement.

Phase status

Two-phase, all-liquid or all-vapour under constant supplied K model.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • Isothermal ideal constant-K Rachford–Rice flash. User supplies thermodynamically appropriate equilibrium ratios; no equation of state or heat balance is solved. Quantities are deterministic calculations from supplied observations and assumptions; no external data is fetched. Supported limits: Finite inputs only; numeric fields bounded as labelled. Lists and JSON records are limited to 256 entries unless a stricter tool bound is stated. No automatic design approval, legal conclusion, treatment recommendation or safety certification. Feed mole fractions: minimum 0, maximum 1. Supplied equilibrium K ratios: minimum 1e-12, maximum 1000000000000.0.
