Calculation method
Calculation method
Section page ranges
Number physical pages from 1; recto means an odd physical page. Insert a blank before a recto section if the next page would be even.
Total imposed pages after signature padding
Pad the final physical page count up to the supplied signature multiple.
Intentional blank-page numbers
List all inserted opening blanks and final signature padding.
Number of blank pages
Count inserted blanks.
Content plus front-matter pages
Sum front matter and supplied section content pages; no Roman-numbering convention is inferred.
Symbols and units
- a
- Front-matter pages
- b
- Sections: name, content pages, opening recto or any
- c
- Final signature multiple (pages)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Physical pagination only, with front matter counted from page 1 and recto defined as odd. Signature padding is added only at the end. Blank numbering, printed folios and binding imposition are separate.
