Rental no-stacking yard footprint proposal calculator

Calculate conceptual coordinate layout and unplaced assets with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use conceptual coordinate layout and unplaced assets to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Examples

Examples

Try the starting example

Asset footprints [width metres, length metres]; enter JSON
[[2,4],[2,3],[1,2]]
Yard usable width (metres)
6
Yard usable length (metres)
8
Trailing aisle/clearance per asset (metres)
0.5
Conceptual coordinate layout (JSON)
{"placements":[{"item":1,"x":0,"y":0,"width":2.5,"height":4.5},{"item":2,"x":2.5,"y":0,"width":2.5,"height":3.5},{"item":3,"x":0,"y":4.5,"width":1.5,"height":2.5}],"unplaced":[]}
Unplaced assets (count)
0

Try another scenario

Asset footprints [width metres, length metres]; enter JSON
[[2,5],[2,4],[1.5,3]]
Yard usable width (metres)
7
Yard usable length (metres)
9
Trailing aisle/clearance per asset (metres)
1
Conceptual coordinate layout (JSON)
{"placements":[{"item":1,"x":0,"y":0,"width":3,"height":6},{"item":2,"x":3,"y":0,"width":3,"height":5}],"unplaced":[3]}
Unplaced assets (count)
1
Calculation method

Calculation method

Conceptual coordinate layout (JSON)

Inflate each asset width/length by supplied clearance; input-order shelf pack without rotation or stacking.

Unplaced assets (count)

Count shelf-plan failures; no proof that another layout cannot fit.

Symbols and units
a
Asset footprints [width metres, length metres]; enter JSON
b
Yard usable width (metres)
c
Yard usable length (metres)
d
Trailing aisle/clearance per asset (metres)

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • Conceptual no-rotation/no-stacking asset parking with user clearance inflation; no yard safety or access certification. Supported limits: All numeric inputs and computed intermediates must remain finite. Supported numeric input magnitude is zero or 1e-12 through 1e12 in absolute value; reject values outside this bounded range. All lists/JSON record tables are limited to 100 records unless a stricter bound is stated; reject malformed record arity and wrong member types. Positive dimensions, clearance>=0; <=100 assets; no stacking allowed in supported model.
