Restaurant peak-rate glassware stock estimate calculator

Calculate required glassware by type with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use required glassware by type to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Examples

Examples

Try the starting example

Peak served covers per hour (covers/hour)
60
Glass types [name, glasses per cover]; enter JSON
[["Water",1],["Wine",0.5]]
Wash-return turnaround (minutes)
30
Breakage and reserve fraction
0.1
Required glassware by type (JSON)
{"Water":33,"Wine":17}

Try another scenario

Peak served covers per hour (covers/hour)
80
Glass types [name, glasses per cover]; enter JSON
[["Water",1],["Wine",0.75]]
Wash-return turnaround (minutes)
45
Breakage and reserve fraction
0.15
Required glassware by type (JSON)
{"Water":69,"Wine":52}
Calculation method

Calculation method

Required glassware by type (JSON)

For each type ceil(covers/hour×turnaround/60×glasses/cover×(1+reserve)).

Symbols and units
a
Peak served covers per hour (covers/hour)
b
Glass types [name, glasses per cover]; enter JSON
c
Wash-return turnaround (minutes)
d
Breakage and reserve fraction

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • Deterministic peak glass demand over one wash turnaround; reserve is user-supplied and not a standard. Supported limits: All numeric inputs and computed intermediates must remain finite. Supported numeric input magnitude is zero or 1e-12 through 1e12 in absolute value; reject values outside this bounded range. All lists/JSON record tables are limited to 100 records unless a stricter bound is stated; reject malformed record arity and wrong member types. All numeric values must be finite. Lists contain at most 100 records; required lists must be nonempty. Rates, probabilities and fractions are entered as fractions, not percentages; fractions must be between 0 and 1. Use a single consistent user-selected currency for all amounts; no exchange-rate conversion.
