Try the starting example
- Weighted table service efforts (work units)
- 8,6,5,3
- Staff available workload capacity (same units)
- 60,60
- Work allocation and loads (JSON)
- {"assignments":[1,2,2,1],"loads":[11,11],"unassigned":[]}
- Unallocated tasks (count)
- 0
- Allocated workload
- 22
Try another scenario
- Weighted table service efforts (work units)
- 9,8,6,4
- Staff available workload capacity (same units)
- 50,40
- Work allocation and loads (JSON)
- {"assignments":[1,2,2,1],"loads":[13,14],"unassigned":[]}
- Unallocated tasks (count)
- 0
- Allocated workload
- 27
Calculation method
Calculation method
Work allocation and loads (JSON)
Largest-workload-first; assign feasible staff with currently lowest load, tie by index; preserve original task indices.
Unallocated tasks (count)
Count tasks that fit no remaining staff capacity in the greedy pass.
Allocated workload
Sum final staff loads.
Symbols and units
- a
- Weighted table service efforts (work units)
- b
- Staff available workload capacity (same units)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Tables remain indivisible; weights are user-estimated service effort, with interchangeable servers. Spatial adjacency is not inferred. Supported limits: All numeric inputs and computed intermediates must remain finite. Supported numeric input magnitude is zero or 1e-12 through 1e12 in absolute value; reject values outside this bounded range. All lists/JSON record tables are limited to 100 records unless a stricter bound is stated; reject malformed record arity and wrong member types. Positive work items and nonnegative staff capacities; <=100 items and <=20 staff. All listed staff qualify for all tasks; no time-window constraints unless encoded separately.
