Calculation method
Calculation method
Rug edge clearances: left, front, right, back (cm)
Rug x,y, room width−x−rug width, room depth−y−rug depth. Negative means a boundary crossing.
Furniture footprint covered by rug (%)
Intersection area of each furniture rectangle with rug / furniture area × 100.
Rectangles outside room boundaries
Count the rug and each furniture footprint crossing any room boundary.
Furniture overlap pairs
Count furniture pairs with positive overlapping area; shared edges are not overlaps.
Symbols and units
- a
- Room width (cm)
- b
- Room depth (cm)
- c
- Rug: left x, front y, width, depth cm
- d
- Furniture: name, left x, front y, width, depth cm
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Top-down axis-aligned rectangle intersections, with dimensions measured from one front-left room origin. It reports conflicts rather than moving furniture. Door swings, walking routes and aesthetic placement are excluded.
