Try the starting example
- Pass price (USD)
- 30
- Single journey fare (USD/journey)
- 2.5
- Journeys on each travel day (count)
- 2,2,0,2,4
- Journeys needed to break even (count)
- 12
- Calendar pay-as-you-go cost (USD)
- $25.00
- Pass saving over calendar (USD)
- -$5.00
Try another scenario
- Pass price (USD)
- 24
- Single journey fare (USD/journey)
- 3
- Journeys on each travel day (count)
- 2,4,2,2
- Journeys needed to break even (count)
- 8
- Calendar pay-as-you-go cost (USD)
- $30.00
- Pass saving over calendar (USD)
- $6.00
Calculation method
Calculation method
Journeys needed to break even (count)
ceil(pass price/single journey fare).
Calendar pay-as-you-go cost (USD)
Sum daily journey counts×fare.
Pass saving over calendar (USD)
Calendar pay-as-you-go cost−pass price.
Symbols and units
- a
- Pass price (USD)
- b
- Single journey fare (USD/journey)
- c
- Journeys on each travel day (count)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Flat per-journey fares and one pass covering the entered calendar; no fare caps. Supported limits: All numeric inputs and computed intermediates must remain finite. Supported numeric input magnitude is zero or 1e-12 through 1e12 in absolute value; reject values outside this bounded range. All lists/JSON record tables are limited to 100 records unless a stricter bound is stated; reject malformed record arity and wrong member types. All numeric values must be finite. Lists contain at most 100 records; required lists must be nonempty. Rates, probabilities and fractions are entered as fractions, not percentages; fractions must be between 0 and 1. Use a single consistent user-selected currency for all amounts; no exchange-rate conversion.
