Variable layer schedule calculator

Calculate layers by band and total layers with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use layers by band and total layers to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Examples

Examples

Try the starting example

Band heights (mm)
1,2
Chosen layer heights (mm)
0.2,0.3
Layers by band
5, 7
Total layers
12
Last layer by band (mm)
0.2, 0.2

Try another scenario

Band heights (mm)
0.6,1
Chosen layer heights (mm)
0.2,0.25
Layers by band
3, 4
Total layers
7
Last layer by band (mm)
0.2, 0.25
Calculation method

Calculation method

Layers by band

For each matched band, round up band height / chosen layer height.

Total layers

Add all band layer counts.

Last layer by band (mm)

Shorten each band’s last layer to reach its boundary exactly; height − (count−1) × layer height.

Symbols and units
a
Band heights (mm)
b
Chosen layer heights (mm)

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • Layers are restarted at each supplied band boundary and the final layer may be shorter. A slicer can reject that short layer; this is a geometric schedule, not a generated printer file.
