Calculation method
Calculation method
Body ends
Round up width × body ends per cm.
Total warp ends
Body ends + additional edge ends.
Ends per dent from left to right
Use consecutive differences of floor(j × body ends / dent count) to distribute body ends; put half the extra edge ends at each outermost dent, with any odd extra on the right.
Occupied reed width (cm)
Round up(width × dents per cm), divided by dents per cm.
Symbols and units
- a
- Warp body width (cm)
- b
- Body ends per cm
- c
- Reed dents per cm
- d
- Additional edge ends in total
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Distributes a user-selected sett over a measured reed, allowing empty dents. Edge ends are additional to the body and do not change the selected reed span. It does not prescribe fibre-specific sett or loom capacity.
