Calculation method
Calculation method
Last completion time
Simulate FIFO jobs through two finite-capacity stages; release arrived jobs only while total unfinished released work is below the WIP limit.
Completion time by job
Show completion timestamps from the common time-zero origin.
Mean release-to-completion cycle time
Mean(completion−release), excluding pre-release waiting.
Median release-to-completion cycle time
Nearest-rank median cycle time.
90th-percentile cycle time
Nearest-rank 90th-percentile cycle time.
Throughput over time zero to last completion
Completed job count / last completion timestamp, including initial idle time.
Peak released jobs still in system
Maximum released but not completed job count at event boundaries.
Symbols and units
- a
- Jobs: name, arrival time, first-stage duration, second-stage duration
- b
- First-stage parallel servers
- c
- Second-stage parallel servers
- d
- Total released-work WIP limit
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- A deterministic two-stage nonpreemptive FIFO model with up to 200 jobs and twenty servers per stage. WIP covers both stages and their internal queues. It does not optimise priorities or infer service-time distributions.
