Workforce promotion budget allocation calculator

Calculate capped proportional allocation by proposal and total allocated raises with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Choose the currency for these amounts. Changing it keeps your numbers and does not convert exchange rates.

Use capped proportional allocation by proposal and total allocated raises to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Calculation method

Calculation method

Capped proportional allocation by proposal ($)

Use max zero eligibility limits=min(proposal, cap). Repeatedly fix limits below their weighted budget share, then apportion remaining US cents by largest remainder, input-order ties. Zero-weight requests receive zero.

Total allocated raises ($)

Sum awarded US cents.

Unallocated budget ($)

Budget−allocated.

Eligible capped requests less allocation ($)

Sum eligible capped requests−allocated, including unallocated zero-weight requests.

Eligible capped request total ($)

Sum supplied eligible capped requests.

Symbols and units
a
Proposals: ID, proposed raise $, supplied cap $, integer allocation weight, eligible yes/no
b
Available raise budget ($)

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • A deterministic funding arithmetic scenario with externally supplied eligibility, weights and caps. It does not decide promotions, assess merit, change pay or claim a fair allocation policy.
