Gear speed simulator

A larger driven gear turns more slowly—and backward.

Playback is compressed; model values are shown separately.

Make a prediction

How does the driven gear rotate?

Ready. Adjust the settings or press Run.

How it works & assumptions

For external meshing gears, ωB=−ωA×NA/NB. Pitch radii scale with tooth count; rotation direction reverses.

Ideal two-gear mesh without slip or backlash. Stylized teeth illustrate the pitch ratio, not a manufacturing profile.
