Calculation method
Calculation method
End-of-day storage (mm)
Each day add effective rainfall and irrigation, drain any excess above capacity, then subtract demand without going below zero.
Daily drainage above capacity (mm)
max(0, opening daily storage + rainfall + irrigation − capacity).
Daily unmet water demand (mm)
max(0, demand − post-drainage available storage).
Total modeled drainage (mm)
Sum daily modeled drainage.
Final stored water (mm)
Storage after the final demand deduction.
Symbols and units
- a
- Opening stored water (mm)
- b
- Storage capacity (mm)
- c
- Daily effective rainfall (mm)
- d
- Daily effective irrigation (mm)
- e
- Daily evapotranspiration demand (mm)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- A supplied-input bucket scenario, with drainage BEFORE evapotranspiration each day. Rain and irrigation inputs must already account for interception/runoff/application losses. No root-depth, soil or crop parameter is inferred.
