Calculation method
Calculation method
Cash balance after each dated event ($)
For approved milestones receive contract×percentage×(1−retention); subtract every supplied cash cost. Sort dated events, retaining input order on ties.
Additional opening cash needed ($)
max(0,negative of the lowest opening/event balance).
Earned retention withheld before release ($)
Sum approved gross amounts×retention percentage, independent of whether a later release is entered.
Approved gross payments less retention ($)
Sum approved milestone payments excluding retention release.
Closing cash ($)
Include a supplied release event only when its date is not before any approved milestone.

Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- A supplied-approval and cash-timing scenario, not revenue recognition, legal contract interpretation or a prediction of payment. Costs are paid on milestone dates even if that milestone is unapproved.
