Support interval staffing worksheet calculator

Calculate scheduled agents by interval and peak scheduled agents with your own figures.

Your numbers

Use the units shown. Results update as you change valid inputs.

Use scheduled agents by interval and peak scheduled agents to compare changes to your inputs. The method and limits below explain the scope.

Examples

Examples

Try the starting example

Intervals: name, expected arrivals, mean handling minutes, interval minutes
I1,60,5,30 I2,30,5,30
Maximum occupied share of productive time (%)
80
Scheduled time unavailable as shrinkage (%)
25
Scheduled agents by interval
I1: 17; I2: 9
Peak scheduled agents
17
Expected handling workload by interval (minutes)
I1: 300; I2: 150
Productive-agent equivalents at entered occupancy
I1: 12.5; I2: 6.25

Try another scenario

Intervals: name, expected arrivals, mean handling minutes, interval minutes
I1,60,5,30 I2,30,5,30
Maximum occupied share of productive time (%)
80
Scheduled time unavailable as shrinkage (%)
0
Scheduled agents by interval
I1: 13; I2: 7
Peak scheduled agents
13
Expected handling workload by interval (minutes)
I1: 300; I2: 150
Productive-agent equivalents at entered occupancy
I1: 12.5; I2: 6.25
Calculation method

Calculation method

Scheduled agents by interval

ceil(arrivals×handling/(interval×occupancy×(1−shrinkage))). Round once after both supplied factors.

Peak scheduled agents

Maximum interval scheduled count, not a simultaneous sum of nonoverlapping intervals.

Expected handling workload by interval (minutes)

Expected arrivals×mean handling minutes.

Productive-agent equivalents at entered occupancy

Workload/(interval duration×occupancy), before shrinkage.

Symbols and units
a
Intervals: name, expected arrivals, mean handling minutes, interval minutes
b
Maximum occupied share of productive time (%)
c
Scheduled time unavailable as shrinkage (%)

Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.

Assumptions & limits

Assumptions & limits

  • A workload/occupancy/shrinkage worksheet. It does not infer a service-level target or arrival distribution; interval peaks are a model requirement rather than a staffing guarantee.
