Calculation method
Calculation method
Quantity differences by line
Counted quantity − recorded quantity for each line.
Signed value differences by line ($)
Quantity difference × unit value for each line.
Net value difference ($)
Add signed value differences: negative indicates a net shortage.
Gross shortage value ($)
For each negative quantity difference, multiply its absolute value by unit value, then add.

- Unit values ($)
Use the units shown. A list keeps the order in which you enter its values. The symbol ^ means “raised to the power of”.
Assumptions & limits
Assumptions & limits
- Recorded-versus-counted units at supplied constant unit values. Positive overages offset shortages only in the signed net value; gross shortage is also shown. Does not identify loss causes or post accounting entries.
